If you are at a plateau, I’d recommending doing whatever you did in the past that was successful and see if it works for you. Maybe it was a different workout routine or a different nutritional plan. Perhaps something in your life has changed that is causing stress which will slow your metabolism. If so, do something to relieve the stress. But, if what you are doing is not producing results, you’ve got to make a healthy change.

For me, I know approximately how many calories different pieces of cardio equipment say I burn. I burn more calories (per the machine), on the Precor Cross Ramp in 30 minutes (about 360) than I do on the elliptical (about 320), or the treadmill (about 300), at the same intensity or RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion). I am fairly confident that all of those are accurate to +/- 50 calories. In my spin class, I can burn about 700 – 800 calories in an hour. Continue reading
