No Excuses. This Busy Wife, Mom, & Marketing Exec Squeezes FitCamp Into Her Daily Schedule
When people come to FitCamp for the first time, one of the questions they ask is, “How many days a week do I need to come?” My answer is always the same, “Every day if you want to get results.” Some people put in half of the effort and see very little results and then others, like Susan Carney, commit to making FitCamp part of each and every day and start seeing results in just a few weeks.
The U.S. Marketing Communications Leader for Dow AgroSciences, wife, and mother of two young children, Susan learned about FitCamp at the Westfield Farmers Market this past summer. She was disappointed to learn that we didn’t have a class at that time to fit her busy schedule, but promised to join FitCamp if we added a 5:00 a.m. class. We added that class in October and she kept her promise. In the past two months, Susan has only missed one FitCamp session, and she is seeing results beyond just losing weight.
Here is Susan’s story…
Prior to FitCamp, it has probably been about three years, or before the birth of my second child, since I have worked out regularly. I decided in July it was time to lose my extra pregnancy weight for good, so I worked out with a personal trainer who got me motivated to continue my fitness journey.
I joined a local gym and thought that I’d be a gym regular, but I wasn’t. It’s hard for me to be motivated to go to a gym and “figure” out what I’m going to do for that day. I had seen information about FitCamp and was interested in trying it, but until the 5:00 a.m. class was added, I knew it wouldn’t fit my schedule. But, with the addition of the 5:00 a.m. class that started on October 3rd, I signed up and have only missed one session since the beginning.
I love FitCamp, it takes the guess work out of what muscles or cardio I need to focus on because the workouts are always challenging and focus on different areas of the body each day. Plus the sessions are fun and it’s a great way to start my morning. I’ve recently canceled my gym membership because FitCamp is the only program that works for me and I look forward to going every morning.
The first week of FitCamp I was pretty sore, but my energy level has increased and I am sleeping much better at night. I know that I am losing inches because my clothes are fitting much better and in some instances are too big. But, I’m also excited about the increase in energy and the increased stamina to keep up with my two kids and my busy career.
I could start to tell a difference about 4 weeks into FitCamp, I felt that I was getting stronger and could lift more weights or do more reps. I’m also not getting winded or getting the side pains from running. I’ve never been a runner, but I have certainly noticed how I have more endurance to keep going and do even more laps.
I think that my fitness level today has certainly increased. Even though I still have sore muscles once in a while, it’s a good feeling to know that I am continuing to challenge my body. I’m also able to do more cardio and more reps or lift more weights depending on the exercise. I feel that I am much more toned and have lost inches making my clothes fit much better.
I’ve only lost about 7 lbs since I’ve started my FitCamp journey because I haven’t been as conscious of my nutrition as I should. I think I started with the mentality that I can eat whatever I want if I’m doing FitCamp, but the truth is that it takes focus on nutrition and exercise to see the real results. I’ve been really focusing on my nutrition the last three weeks and I can honestly say that I’ve been amazed at how many calories I was eating when I started tracking everything with on myfitnesspal.com. I feel that I am now making better nutrition choices and am starting to see even more results.
I would encourage everyone to try FitCamp; you won’t be sorry. You will get a great workout and it will have you feeling great the entire day. FitCamp is geared for all fitness levels whether you are just starting out or are advanced and just looking for something different. Susan’s story is just one example of how a person can make time for exercise while balancing work and family. It means planning your day, eating healthy, going to bed earlier and committing to daily fitness program like FitCamp. Give FitCamp a chance and you’ll get the results, we guarantee it!
