Don’t let others sabotage your efforts
If I can guarantee one thing that will surely happen throughout your fitness journey, it is this…
“People will knowingly and unknowingly try to derail your efforts at every twist and turn.”
They’ll try to talk you out of going to the gym so that you can go to a bar. They’ll bring donuts into the office and get you to take one. They’ll stock your cupboards with chips and your freezer with ice cream. And they’ll convince you that you’re fine just the way you are. They are the saboteurs and enablers. They are your spouse, partner, significant other, children, parents, neighbors, co-workers, and even the person handing out free food samples at Costco.
I know this to be true because I am a personal trainer and I have people tempting me all of the time. Right now there’s ice cream in our freezer, my son’s Halloween candy on the top of the refrigerator, and chips in the cupboard. I didn’t put any of those there; my family did!
Yes, it’s up to us to have the willpower to resist temptations. But sometimes we need every advantage we can get when it comes to reaching (and maintaining) our fitness goals.
To help you, I have created a Fitness Support Agreement that clients of FitNow Training can give to the people they interact with on a daily basis and have them sign. A Fitness Support Agreement is a contract between you and others that gets their buy-in to helping you succeed at reaching your fitness goals. They must agree to motivate you, support you, and keep you from turning (or returning) to bad habits such as being lazy, sedentary, overeating, smoking, etc…
If you are a client of FitNow Personal Fitness Training, I encourage you to download the Fitness Support Agreement below and ask people to sign it. But, don’t be surprised if some people refuse. Those people don’t want you to succeed. They want you to remain as unhealthy as they are or they feel threatened by a healthy you. You know that old saying “misery loves company”, this is a great example . If they refuse to support you, then you need to turn and run the other way.
By removing any temptations and surrounding yourself with positive people who care about your health and well-being, you WILL succeed!
